Arrest - Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit Investigation - Swift Current

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Swift Current man with possession of child exploitation offences. Members of the ICE Unit began an online investigation into child luring in December 2023, and subsequently executed a search warrant at a home in Swift Current.

As a result of the police investigation, 56 -year-old Derrick HEEBNER, was charged on February 13th, 2024.

He has been charged with:

  • Luring a child by means of telecommunication to commit invitation to sexual touching contrary to section 172.1(1)(b)
  • Possession of child pornography 163.1(4)

HEEBNER appeared in court and was released on numerous conditions. His next court appearance will be March 13, 2024 at 1:30 PM in Swift Current.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
