Arrest - Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit Investigation - Saskatoon

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Saskatoon man with child pornography-related offences.

On January 17, 2024, investigators with the ICE unit executed a search warrant at a Saskatoon residence which had been identified as where the offences had been occurring. Forensic examination of several electronic devices was conducted and 36-year-old, Matthew Wood was arrested and charged with:

  • 2 counts of Possession of Child Pornography
  • 1 count of Making Available Child Pornography
  • 1 count of Distributing Child Pornography

The investigation is continuing with further charges pending.

The accused appeared in court today and was held in custody. His next court appearance is January 19, 2024.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
