20 Year Old Saskatoon Man Drowns In South Sask, River

The body of a 20 year old Saskatoon man has been recovered from the South Saskatchewan River.

The Saskatoon Police Service received a call shortly after 4:00 AM indicating that someone had fallen from the 25th Street Bridge. Police and Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services personnel responded and were able to determine that a group of young male adults had been crawling through the arches on the underside of the bridge, when one of the group fell.

Another member of the group went in to the water in life-saving attempt, but was unable to complete the rescue.

SFPS personnel conducted a rescue operation with assistance from the SPS Air Support Unit. The body was recovered shortly after 9:30 AM.

No foul play is suspected in the incident, however alcohol is considered to be a contributing factor.
